About Me…

Put Photo of Me here... So let me introduce myself.  People know me online by the moniker Zakuska.  It’s a russian style hors d’oeuvre best served with vodka. No, I don’t speak russian but if you ask me, I’ll tell you the story of how I came up with the moniker. You can call me Zak for short.  The title, ‘Captian Zinger’, was given to me by the moderators of the FAIR/MADb Mormon based apologetic forum as a result of my tendency to respond to others with sarcastic and sometimes ironic one liners, and thus my 25,000+ posts on that message board.

I was born and raised in the LDS church, and I served a mission for the Lord Jesus Christ back in 1990-92 in the Portugal Lisbon South mission. I am now nearly forty years old, married for seventeen years to a beautiful and lovely wife who was made in Brazil.  We share this adventure called life with three amazing kids, seven geinea pigs, and a red-eared slider. I hold an associates degree in Computer Science. I am a self dubbed Geek-Squad guru and have been programming computers since I was eight.

I first started posting apologetically on the internet about Mormonism back in 2000 as a result of a mysterious unmarked envelope that was left on my doorstep on new years eve. The envelope contained a hundred and forty five page faith bomb full of cherry-picked out of context Bible quotes comparied with a similar list of cherry-picked out of context quotes from a myriad of Mormon leaders. It was left by two childhood “friends” who had recently left the LDS church (sadly, because of transgression and pride) and most of the other members in our ward received this same mysterious package on their door steps as well. As near as I could tell, because of the Y2k scare that was going on at the time, I think my “friends” were trying to get their ducks in a row just incase the rapture came the next morning. Perhaps they wanted to get in one last raspberry-nose-snub at the church and it’s members before all that was left behind was a folded pile of clothes.

Ironically, instead of destroying my faith as this tome was designed to do, it sent me on a quest to find responses for my “friends” and has been the driving force behind an ever increased knowledge of the truth and strengthend my testimony of the restored Gospel a hundred fold. When I went online back in 2000, I met such apologetic greats as Dr. Daniel C. Petersen , Kerry Shirts , Life on a Plate and many others too numerous to name here. They helped me grow and mature (at least partially 😉 ) in the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ and helped strengthen my testimony of the divine calling of the prophet Joseph Smith.

You can find my review of the Y2k Tome on the menu bar at the top of the page. Be sure to check back periodically as I will be adding pages and posts to various questions and topics related to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I may also impart some tech-talk and knowledge for various computer related problems that I have encountered over the years.

I hope you find my insights helpful and look forward to reading your comments as well.
